A guide to clearing roller shutter tracks

One of the most common causes of roller shutter faults is blocked and damaged tracks, it is therefore important to keep the tracks clean and clear of debris.

  1. Open your roller shutter door fully to give you complete access to the tracks.

  2. Remove any debris from the tracks using a broom or vacuum. If you are using your hands to remove the debris, please ensure you are wearing safety gloves. If there are any stuck on bits of debris you can use a cleaning solution and a soft brush to help remove them.

  3. Check for any damage to the tracks including bent, damaged, or misaligned sections. If any sections are damaged please contact us to arrange a repair or replacement.

  4. Use a silicone-based lubricant on the tracks – this will keep them running smoothly.

  5. Once the tracks are lubricated and clear of any debris the door can be closed.

  6. Set up a maintenance contract to keep your roller shutter in a good working order.

Regularly cleaning and lubricating the tracks of your roller shutter doors can help prevent a multitude of future issues.

If you are interested in a maintenance and repair contract please give us a call to discuss.
